FREE-mantle is movement to Free our Phone.


Ultimate goal is to have totally Free (as freedom) phone. This project is not competing with CSSU or PowerKernel, but using them and pushing results forward. This is not either competing with Debian/Ubuntu/Nemo/Fedora on N900, but hopefully producing building blocks for them also.


One way to achieve Free phone is to start from Maemo5-Fremantle and drop/rewrite/replace every closed source packages. Some of them are easy to replace, some are already replaced, some has useful features...
