There are some packages that conflict with updating to PR1.3, causing it to tell you to use the PC Suite to update instead. If you open the update in the Application Manager, and open the Details dialog, you will see the Problems tab. This will tell you the names of any conflicting packages, that can be unistalled in the terminal (X-Term), by using "apt-get remove <package name>". I only needed to remove libqt-test, but you might have to try it again to make sure it updates.

 This article describes a firmware update.
If you have problems installing the firmware update, there is an article that describes some known problems and solutions as well as an article on freeing up rootfs space.

Maemo 5 PR1.3 was released on October 25, 2010, together with an update of the SDK for developers. The product version is 20.2010.36-2.
